Yoochooz’s mission is to change the way the younger generation interacts with the digital world. Their app aims to prevent cyber bullying and give children the opportunity to make the correct choices.
Developer Maggie Ciabano joined Bec and Jeziel to tell us more about Yoochooz. Maggie decided to create this app after her 15-year-old daughter was bullied online. “I said lets do something about this problem because it was escalating. Not just with my child but everyone’s children.” Once installed the app flags keywords and phrases that could be damaging. The child is alerted and encouraged to think twice before sending the message. It also notifies parents of hurtful comments made to their child. “Its giving them the choices to make in that moment.”
“Forming a community of Yoochooz parents would be a brighter future for our children because we would limit the damage being done. If we could save one child from having this app would be amazing.”
The Yoochooz app will be available soon. If you or anyone you know has been affected by this chat please call Lifeline. Let us know your thoughts by texting or messaging us on socials. Listen to the full chat below.
