World Environment Day

As today is World Environment Day we went straight to the smartest gang we know – The Scitech Team! Science Educator Tanya Johnson tells us all about what World Environment Day means and how it impacts us, she even has a cheeky challenge for the Drive Duo.

World Environment day is a UN initiative to raise awareness and action for our environment. This year’s host country is India and the theme is #BeatPlasticPollution. Sadly, we are seeing a tremendous amount of plastic pollution, BUT we are seeing an increased action against it – like the plastic bag ban that is being introduced at the end of this month.

We are also seeing plastic straws no longer being sold in Woolworths and the introduction of recycling bins at Coles – so if you do have plastic bags you can turn them in here.

But what can we do?

Participate in the UN’s #BeatPlasticPollution tag challenge! Here’s how it works:

Mel & jeziel participate in the Un's beat palstic pollution tag challenge

1. Choose which type of single use plastic you’re ready to give up. (We’ve chosen straws)
2. Take a selfie with your reusable alternative.
3. Share your selfie and tag 3 friends or businesses to challenge them to do the same thing in 24 hours!
We challenge @perthhappenings @redfrogsau @compassionau !
