Weekend Planner: Popcorn Plans?

New Films Finally Back on the Big Screen…

The first of the new big films was finally released in cinemas this week! Tenet the highly anticipated film from Nolan (who created Inception, Dark Knight Trilogy). Designed to be seen on a big screen with surround sound this film is big in every way. I loved the blending of spy thriller with science fiction that Nolan does so well. With witty moments, intelligent social commentary and plenty of action it is a perfect film to see in these COVID times.

For a family film date then look no further than Trolls World Tour, it is finally on the big screen. Packed with energetic fun music, funny lines and adorable trolls it’s worth seeing in the cinemas (so that no-one can see you boogie-ing away in your seat). See it this weekend with advance screenings at Hoyts, Grand Cinemas, Event Cinemas, Reading Cinemas, The Palace Cinemas & Ace Cinemas.

Cinefest OZ

After being delayed due to COVID Cinefest OZ finally kicked off in the Busselton/Margaret River area today. The next 5 days will be a celebration of Australian film and with some panels and sessions being run online you can book in and watch from home or head down south for some great locally-grown film. Find out all the details here.

 An Inspired Date…

Climbing Blind, the multi-award-winning documentary covering the incredible story of the first blind lead to climb the Old Man of Hoy Sea Stack in Scotland. Showing at Event Cinemas, this weekend for a limited time don’t miss seeing this incredible and inspiring film. Book your tickets here.

Want to cosy up together instead for a date afternoon? Luna Cinemas Retro Sunday’s Cosy Afternoon Classic Sessions are perfect. This Sunday it is the classic Moulin Rouge. These sessions also include free tea/coffee and biscuits so you can really feel like you have stepped back in time for an afternoon. Book your tickets here and start planning your retro afternoon.

Weekend Planner: Couch Cosies?

Mutant Plans…

Next weekend The New Mutants come out in cinemas so what better way to prepare for that than going back and watching the X-Men film series all over again. Disney Plus have then all ready to binge. I like starting with the newer ones, X-Men First Class (2011) series or start with the first series made X-Men (2000). Catch up on all the X-Men films before the last instalment, The New Mutants, hits cinemas.

Family Night…

The Sleepover on Netflix is a fun family film that all ages should enjoy. In the vein of Spy Kids, The Pacifier & Home Alone The Sleepover is a fun, crazy and sweet film about kids who have to come to the rescue when their parents are kidnapped by a crew of international thieves. Silly fun perfect for a night in on the couch with homemade popcorn and hot chocolates.

Documentaries worth bingeing…

With a carefully selected, list of Louis Theroux Documentaries available for a limited time on ABC iView. Compelling and thought provoking, Louis Theroux explores real life stories and social issues in this series of short documentaries. One of the best at this style of documentary he gives amazing insight into humans and society.  Check them all out here.

Tune in during Classic Drive next week during the 3 pm or 5 pm hour more ideas on how to fill your weekend planner! Plus as always the Sonshine Diary also has plenty of other options for your weekend plans.
