Seventy five police officers from WA’s COVID taskforce will gradually be assigned to keep the community safe in Northbridge and the Perth CBD.

The boost of police officers complements a raft of measures announced by the McGowan Government to tackle antisocial behaviour and boost safety in the area. The additional officers join 100 extra officers already deployed in the Perth Police District. The 75 officers from Operation Tide were previously engaged in duties including door to door quarantine checks, managing the digital quarantine monitoring system, airport duties, monitoring ports and manning roadblocks. Simon Creek, from HHG Legal Group, joined Mike to discuss if this will help keep Northbridge safe. “It’s a shame that Northbridge is a place that we all want to go. But are currently scared to go to particularly on the weekends at night.

“It is a problem that is not localised but it is accentuated in those areas. That really for too many people are all about alcohol drugs and escapism.”
