If you’ve received a letter from your sponsor child recently with mentions of them owning a mobile phone and other ‘luxury’ items and are wondering why sponsorship money is being spent on such things, you may not be alone.
This morning, Brekky’s Kirste and Morro chatted to Compassion’s Michael Cauchi about whether or not sponsored children need this kind of technology at such a young age.
Compassion says: “You wouldn’t be the first person to think that, but the simple fact is that families in developing nations do not view mobile phones and other technology as luxury items. They are needed tools for development, education—and, sometimes, survival.”
