Research has shown that hair tissue is useful in indicating nutrient imbalances and exposure to toxic elements.

If your health, diet or environment has created a mineral imbalance or toxic mineral excess, it will be recorded in the hair shaft. So Naturopath Melanie Jaye joined Mike to tell us more about a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA). A HTMA measures the mineral composition of hair, (precise to parts per million). It is a safe and non-invasive test that reflects the level of nutrients and toxic elements in body tissue. It provides clinical data that may have been missed by standard blood, urine and stool testing. “People don’t like needles so this is really easy having the hair sample taken without any pain.”

Minerals are essential for growth, healing, vitality and wellbeing. Minerals provide structural support in bones, and maintain the body’s pH, water balance, nerve activity, muscle contractions, energy production and enzyme reactions. Our bodies may also contain small amounts of toxic chemicals such as lead, mercury and aluminium. These heavy metals can have a negative impact on our health, and may reduce the absorption of minerals needed by the body such as iron.

“Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis is a good option particularly where there’s fatigue. Where there’s un-answered health question, imbalances, not getting the answers (from other tests).”
