Among all the various fundraising methods, the lap-a-thon or run-a-thon has to be one of the best. Everyone gets together, runs a whole lot and raises a heap of money.
The concept has been around for years, but one Perth teacher has given it a fun new twist. Isaac Thomas runs the rugby program at Rockingham Senior High School, and decided to give the classic fundraising event a rugby spin. So the try-a–thon was born. Students run laps from try-line to try-line. The 100 metre distance is one lap, and some students have been known to do more than FIVE HUNDRED laps!
This incredible feat isn’t just for nothing. The students each raise money for Telethon, with over $100,000 being raised over the last four years.
