What does wealth mean to you?
Elson Goh, from EG Financial Services, joined Mike to talk about wealth. We all desire to be wealthy; however, our perception of wealth varies greatly. Some associate wealth with possessions, others value shared experiences with their loved ones. Whenever we reach a significant milestone, we feel wealthy. Everyone’s journey is unique, but we can all benefit by reviewing the money we have spent for the year and how it contributed to our ‘wealth moment’. Elson and his family went on a big trip to China. “tens of thousands of dollars, giant Pandas, Great Wall, we did it all.” At the end of the year he asked his kids what was their ‘worth it moment’. “They said unanimously that the $150 camping trip with their cousins was far more enjoyable, far greater than the tens of thousands of dollars that we spent on a great big China trip.”
Doing this exercise often increases our awareness and reminds us that the choices we make have consequences. “When we look back at family it promotes a sense of gratitude. It helps us cherish those moments and memories.”
