Cinemas – I Still Believe
I Still Believe – (PG) Based on the true story of Christian Music star Jeremy Camp as he falls in love and experiences his career starting along with great personal loss. Acted well by a stellar cast this film can feel very corny to begin with but deliberately so for the payoff later in the film when the characters struggle to find reason and meaning to what they are experiencing.
Alliance Francaise French Film Festival – From now until 8th April you can watch the best of the best of French cinema at the French Film Festival. With a variety of films there is something got everyone! One of my favourites from this year’s line-up is the film ‘Edmond’ (M). A hilarious and sweet film based on the infamous writer Edmond Rostand and how brilliant play Cyrano de Bergerac came to be. With films like SamSam (G), 10 Days Without Mum (PG), Of Love and Lies (PG), Spread Your Wings (PG) & The Lost Prince (PG) there are plenty of family friendly films as well.
Get out and see a film under the stars that you won’t find in Cinemas anymore.
Just Mercy at the Kookaburra Outdoor Cinema- (Rated M)
The Kookaburra Outdoor cinemas is nestled in the hills so you can watch amongst the trees and the beauty of the Australian nature. Just Mercy is a must see film. With wonderful performances that leave you wanting to talk about this film to everyone you know. Based on a true story about wrongfully convicted Walter McMillan who with the help of his attorney appeals his murder conviction despite adversity from the entire town. Click here to get tickets.
Looking for something to just relax and spend time at home with? There are so many options now between streaming services, network TV and Catch up TV or On Demand TV.
Free to Air –
ABC iView – The Heights (PG) Filmed in Perth with 98% of the crew & 90% of the cast from Perth this series on ABC truly is a local/community production that is on par with the rest of the country. Along with fascinating storylines you’ll enjoy working out just where things have been filmed and if you can see any extra’s or cast members you know. All 30episodes of Season 1 is on iView along with the first episode of Season 2 that has just started airing.
TenPlay – Junior MasterChef (G) With 7 seasons of Junior MasterChef USA and 2 seasons of junior MasterChef Australia you can binge watch with the kids this stormy weekend and hopefully inspire them to whip up some wonderful delights to share as a family! If not it is always great to see how amazing the next generation is shaping up to be.
Streaming Services – Stan
Stan is wonderful at supporting Australian television and film. They have a wide variety of Australian shows that are well worth a watch. Here are some of my top picks.
The Hamish & Andy Collection (all their trips) (Reality/Comedy – Rated PG), Kenny (Comedy/Drama – Rated M), Tomorrow When the war Began (Young Adult/War Drama – Rated M), Love Child (Drama/ Historical – Rated M), Paperback Hero (Romantic Comedy – Rated M), That Sugar Film (Documentary – Rated PG), The Ex-PM (Political Comedy – Rated M), Utopia (Political Comedy- Rated M), The Wiggles Collection (Kids – Rated G).
