This week on Brekky, Uniting WA CEO, Amanda Hunt joined Kirste and Dan to talk about Raine Square’s new Urban Upcycling initiative. urban upcycling

Raine Square is collecting clothing which will be upcycled by fashion students from south metropolitan TAFE. “The purpose of upcycling is to ensure that we are looking at long term change in our community. Not just wasting our resources.”

These pieces will be sold at Raine Square. The money will help provide housing and essential items for people experiencing homelessness. “For every piece that is auctioned, that money is going to support people into safe accommodation.”

If you would like to get involved with the Urban Upcycling program, you can donate unwanted clothes, blankets or fabric directly to Raine Square to be recycled. You can find more info here. Donations are being accepted until the 27th of June.
