In 2019, the WA Government passed the Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill.
Despite varied opinions, the passing of this legislation was going to affect the lives and deaths of many Western Australians going forward. ‘The Window Outside’ analyses the influence this has on those in their final stages of life and their loved ones.
Director Liz Connors and Artistic Director Althea Gordon joined Bec to tell us about the show. “It’s a little different. It is on the more serious and dramatic side. So hopefully it will resonate with a lot of people looking for something different and thought provoking.”
The play tells the story of Frank, Evelyn and their daughters Sharon and Miranda. As a family they negotiate a pathway of aging, illness and end of life care. The themes include family, home, displacement, dementia and dying with dignity. “It’s a powerful play it won the 2021 Melbourne writer theatre award.”
