Enjoy the Christmas Season for longer…
I know for many doing Christmas before the 1st of December is sacrilege, growing up in my house we had to wait until the 7Th of December every year so my mama got to celebrate her birthday before Christmas took over the house.
2020 has been tough! So why not break with tradition and start bring the joy and hope of Christmas into your life?
Christmas Lights Trail opens in the city. This is a great trail to do anytime of the year and if it is anything like last year, I strongly recommend you do NOT miss it. My mama & I had a mother daughter night out for the trail last year, it was so special and wonderful. The trail takes you through some beautiful and vibrant parts of Perth. I will admit we didn’t make it to every part as it’s so big. You could definitely break it into two nights out. Stop at one of the many places along the trail for dinner and yet another for dessert. A perfect family night out or date night.
Christmas Concerts in the City will bring Forrest Place alive each Sunday with Festive performances from local bands, musicians, choirs, dancers and more. Santa may even visit. This is a free event but due to COVID restrictions booking is required so click here to book your free tickets and start planning a festive family day out in the city!
The Magic of Christmas at Wanneroo Botanic Gardens will amaze you and make you feel like you have wandered into a Christmas wonderland. With Mini golf, gorgeous Christmas decorations throughout the gardens and the epic LeapFrogs Restaurant right there it is a great way to kick off the Christmas season with your family.

This wonderful film festival is ending in just over a week so get along this weekend to see one of the brilliant films from Britain showing this year. Have a click here to have a look at our suggestions from the extensive line up of films. With my top pick being Misbehaviour. Rated M, the film based on a true story of the Miss World pageant that started a revolution. Find the full line up and get tickets here.
Fortunate Life …
This weekend at Grand Cinemas you can see a live theatre event intertwined with the film on the big screen! Family Christmas season starts….
Jingle Jangle A Christmas Journey, rated PG, on Netflix is so brilliant is sure to become a classic Christmas movie for decades to come. Combining the elements that make The Nutcracker and A Christmas carol so wonderful they then add the feel of an epic Broadway Christmas Musical. The musical pieces have just the right combination of sweeping musical ballads and African influenced music and dance. Gorgeous costumes, sets and the infectious joy from the cast make for moments when you can’t help but grin at the feelings of festiveness and joy created. Wonderful to kick off the Christmas season with the family, maybe while decorating the Christmas Tree.
Sweetness night in binge ….
Next week Netflix releases season 2 of Virgin River, rated M, so this weekend is the perfect time to binge the first 10 episode season. Perfect for that girly night in on the couch, enjoying the sweetness of a Christmas hallmark style movie but spread over 10 episodes and without Christmas, for if you are holding off till 1st Dec for festiveness. If you enjoyed Sweet Magnolia, Chesapeake Shores or When Calls the Heart this is the perfect series for you.
Date night at home….
ABC iView has all 6 episodes of the British mii series The Capture, rated M. This series really delves into the question can we believe what we see in this world of technology that can change, distort and mislead depending on who controls it. Captivating characters will keep you hooked till the end.
Celebrate the men in your life for International Men’s Day (which was on Thursday) with a collection of ABC programs celebrating the great role models that exist for boys and young men. Check out the collection on ABC iView here.
Tune in during Classic Drive next Friday during the 3 pm or 5 pm hour more ideas on how to spend your time over the School Holidays! Plus as always the Sonshine Diary also has plenty of other options for your weekend plans.
Whether you go adventuring, plan to have popcorn or cosy up on the couch – I hope you stay safe & enjoy whatever is in your weekend planner!
