Nick Marvin, from MarvinHR, joined Mike to continue their discussion on one on one meetings.
“We recommend that managers schedule a 15-minute catch-up with every individual on the team at least once a fortnight.” Nick shared the recent results from the Harvard Business Review: Meeting between a manager and an employee leads to a:
- 54% increase in staff engagements
- 31% increase in productivity
- 15% decrease in burn out
- 16% decrease in depression amongst employees
The 5F’s provide a framework. Whilst discussing all of these every time may not be necessary, it is important to revisit them from time to time. Faith (Spirituality/Mindfulness), Family & Friends (Social), Fitness (Health), Finances, and Fun (Hobbies).
“If you don’t have enough time for your people you’re not being a good manager or leader…care for your people first…more than you even care for your customers…more than you even care for your owners or your directors or share holders.”
