What should the focus of a manager be? How should a manager’s time be spent?

Whilst everyone’s role is different and the answers can vary a lot, there are some common themes worth considering. “It’s remarkable how many people who are in management roles don’t spend time with their team members.” Rather than a to-do list of tasks, managers should prioritise spending time with their staff. Let them ask questions and give feedback.
“Quite often people get promoted to management because they’re really good at “something”, they’re a really good sales person, or a good engineer or good accountant but when they become managers they keep doing what they were good at and so (quite often) their staff feel neglected.”
