The 4 Month Sleep Regression stage can cause a lot of stress and anxiety for parents.
So Andrea Fallon, Child Health Nurse, joined Mike to clear up some of the myths surrounding it. These myths include things about what you “should” be teaching your baby at 4 months and what they “should” be doing.
- You need to teach your baby at 4 months to link their sleep cycles or self-settle. If you don’t you’re going to have ongoing sleep problems. This is seen as the key age, get it done otherwise you’re in trouble!
- Your baby should be able to self settle by now and should be able to go longer between feeds.
“I remember it for myself from my oldest daughter. I went along to the appointment at four months and you get told they should be able to do this, they should be able to do that and you start to think, it’s my responsibility as the parent to teach this but the reality is that sleep is biological.”
