Stephen Holt Released by Brisbane Bullets
The Brisbane Bullets have used the break in the NBL season for the FIBA international window to make some adjustments to the playing roster.
The Bullets are in the process of finalising details on a replacement guard to join the roster and expect to have that change finalised in the next 24 hours.
Stephen Holt has been released from the remainder of his contract with the Bullets to take up another opportunity in Europe, and Jeremy Kendle will join the roster as a short term replacement, subject to receiving NBL clearance and completing all required documentation.
Bullets General Manager Richard Clarke summarised the roster movements:
“We had been looking at bringing an additional Guard into the group, originally with the intention of Stephen remaining in the roster and the new player adding to the depth in the guard rotation.
“Stephen was concerned about the impact this would have on his role, and his agent requested a release as he had another opportunity he could immediately take up.
“We granted that release, and that has given us additional salary cap space for the replacement Guard and allowed us to look at a different level of player than we were originally.
“It means that we will likely not have that player here for the games vs Melbourne United, but we are fortunate in having a player of Jeremy’s quality available to join the roster. Jeremy has been training with the group all season, he knows our systems and has NBL experience so will be able to step in straight away.”
The Bullets expect to make further announcement confirming the signing of the replacement player later this week.
The fourth placed Bullets will take on defending champions Melbourne United on the 8th of December at Brisbane Convention Exhibition Centre.
