Every Wednesday Kirste’s besty Shannon visits The Breakfast Show to catch up on what’s been going on in her life as a mum of three boys.
Last week was the last week of term, and things in Shannon’s household were getting sloppy, probably like most family’s do just before the holidays. Uniforms were going out the door un-ironed, sandwiches were going into lunchboxes un-cut. Everyone was just hanging out for the holidays. But you know what got Shannon through? Coffee.
But one particular coffee run drudged up some grim memories for her. She was in line and the man in front of her just made his order and the cashier asked what his name was.
“Tobias, T-o-b-i-a-s,” he replied, even though he wasn’t asked how to spell it.
The poor guy, Shannon thought to herself. He must have to spell that for people constantly. Now you may think ‘why did Shannon get all sympathetic for this guy? That’s a pretty common name, there’s only one way to spell it.’
Well, before Shannon was married her last name was Millar. That’s right with an a-r on the end instead of the common Miller.
“Oh don’t even get me started”, Kirste chimed in. “Thanks mum for trying to be creative or whatever, no one ever spells my name right. K-I-R-S-T-E. Even when I tell people, they still get it wrong.”
So Kirste and Shannon wanted to give The Family some time to vent. Do you have to spell and re spell your name? Now’s your chance to shout it loud and proud! Join the conversation on Facebook.
