Simon Creek from HHG Legal Group, joined Mike to talk about Rural WA from Agri-business perspective.
As a farmer’s son, Simon thinks farming is just as difficult as any other business. “After 20 plus years of running a decent sized legal firm. Farming is just as hard to get your head around on a daily basis.” There are a 5 of ways we can support rural Western Australia.
- Keep on complying with all the Covid-19 Safety measures. We’ve kept our regional areas safe so far and it’s made farming easier!
- Buy Local Buy WA. The Buy WA Campaigns come and go but it’s something we need to follow on a daily basis.
- Travel to the Regions.
- Touch base regularly with friends and family in the regions. It can be a lonely existence out on the farm.
- Re-think the State Government’s plan to introduce the “One Vote One Value” policy. When large chunks of our regional areas that produce the majority of our State’s revenue, are occupied by a small number of people.
“If they’ve only got one vote for the very few people who live there, they really don’t get any representation in parliament. So, I have to say chew on that from the Farmer’s angle, have a think of it from not just the city dwellers perspective.”
