Which side dominates your life: the light or the darkness?

Wednesday, October 25, 2017 12:10 pm

CEO and founder of Shalom House Peter Lyndon-James reiterated how there is a light and a darkness that follows us as we make decisions in our lives. Whichever side you allow to dominate will result in every consequence from your choices.

Sam called in this morning to ask how to stop the thoughts you get in your head as you are going or have gone through the process of recovery, whether it is addiction to pornography or substances.

Q: After attending the Tough Love seminar in Kalgoorlie I tried to get tough with my ex son in law, who has full time custody of my two grandsons. I asked him to comply with court ordered drug testing and he refused, and now no longer lets me see my grandsons. I contacted DCP and they said they can’t do anything. They advised me to contact a solicitor, which I did, they said they can’t help me because the court orders are between my daughter and ex son in law. I contacted my daughter, who said she doesn’t want to proceed because she said the solicitors didn’t help her before. I really miss my grandsons and I am worried because I know their dad is still using drugs otherwise he would have taken the drug test.

Q: My partner of 10 years is an ice addict, started to go downhill 1 year ago with psychosis. He denies his children are his and is paranoid beyond explanation. He physically attacked me in January and ended up in jail in March. Now we have a letter from immigration to deport him. But the system failed us. I took him to hospital to be assessed with no treatment and they told him he was fine, then the attack happened 5 days after. I need words of wisdom of what the next step is. I have 2 beautiful babies to him, a 16month old and a 3.5 year old. If he gets deported they won’t see him again.
