Every Wednesday Mel & Jeziel catch up on the last week and share something they’ve learned in the last 7 days for Show and Tell. Whether it be a mind-blowing moment or a small ah-uhhh moment, they bring it to the family to share what they’ve learnt.

This week, Jeziel learnt that we have different types of tears and they actually look different!

different tears

The 3 types of tears we have are psychic (triggered by extreme emotions), basal (that are constantly released to lubricate our eyes) and reflex (released in response to an irritant, like dust, onion.)

The photographer that captured these tears calls them “Aerial Views of Emotional Terrain” because they reminded her of aerial landscape shots. Rose Lynn Fisher had done a few other extreme close up projects before this one. Including examining bees and a fragment of her own hip bone under a microscope.

During a time when she “shed a lot of tears,” she captured one on a microscope slide and examined it. This lead to a year-long project of capturing and investigating tears!
