While we’re enjoying a wet and wild winter here in WA, spare a thought for the residents of Phoenix, Arizona.
In the midst of the American summer, temperatures in the desert city have hit a high of nearly 50C. The sweltering weather has had a surprising side effect, with many regular objects melting in the heat.
This plastic letter box couldn’t handle the heat. Note to self: use a metal letter box if I ever build a house in Arizona.
This street sign had a similar problem, with the painted letters melting away. Hopefully nobody was really desperate to find Thomas St.
Another curious plastic construction choice, a garden fence. Similarly, this plastic fantastic item couldn’t handle the heat either.
But it wasn’t all bad news. This intrepid chef decided to try baking a cookie on their car dashboard. While it took slightly longer than your standard fan forced oven, it’s certainly an interesting new method.
