Living Intentionally is about living in the present.
Sally Hewitt, from Aging Gratefully, joined Mike to talk about living intentionally. We have a tendency to live on auto-pilot and it’s very easy to fall into a routine. There is certainly some security and safety in routines. But the problem that can arise from routines is that we do them so often…we can end up doing things without really thinking about what we’re doing. For example the daily drive to work or school.
We aren’t present in the moment and the seconds become minutes, the minutes become hours and the hours become days. All of a sudden, we reach the end of the week and think, “where did the time go?” When we become more conscious in the moment, we take back control and don’t feel like time is running away from us.
“It (living intentionally) isn’t a one off action, and it is hard, it’s challenging. I’m not saying I’m an expert at this, it’s something that I am working on all the time because I think as humans we are negatively charged. So we have to be intentional in capturing our thoughts and encapturing our moments and if we’re able to do that on a regular basis we’re able to then turn it into a habit.”
