This morning on Brekky, our CEO Bevan Jones joined Kirste and Dan to talk about Ruth’s Legacy Match.
Named after a special person who has made significant contributions to 98five since before we started. “We started in 1988 but there were people like Ruth White who were giving since 1987, on the idea of hoping to get it going.”
Ruth was a generous person who always wanted to give others her time and support. She held a women’s fellowship group weekly and volunteered at her local primary school before she passed away last year. “I had a call from her niece Jenny…She’s goes ‘Ruth in her last will and testament left an amount of money for you’. It’s kind of just humbling to go wow she thought of us.”
If you would like to donate to our June Appeal, every dollar will be matched in honour of Ruth’s Legacy. “I said that there is this way that, even though she’s gone home that she could inspire generosity because she was such a generous person. I told her about matching and she got excited. She was genuinely excited.” If you would like to share your stories of hope text or message us on socials, we’d love to hear them.
