Perth Stadium to Host Historic Day – Night Test

Perth will host its first ever International day-night Test match this summer in a historic fixture against trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand at Perth Stadium. WA cricket fans will get their first taste of the spectacle when Australia host the Black Caps in the first match of the Domain Test Series, with the first pink ball to be bowled on Thursday 12 December.

WACA CEO Christina Matthews said it was a huge coup for cricket fans in WA.

“Securing the day-night fixture is very exciting, and I know our Members and fans are going to love the pink ball test,”

“It will be a truly unique experience, especially given the state-of-the-art lighting technology that will be on show when the sun goes down at Perth Stadium.

“Australia has enjoyed a great rivalry with New Zealand in recent years, so we’re extremely fortunate to secure the first match of the series and the spectacle of a day-night Test will only add to the occasion.”

Perth will also host its first Twenty 20 International in nearly a decade, with the world number one ranked Pakistan taking on the Aussies at Perth Stadium on Friday 8 November.

Ms Matthews said.

“There is a real passion for T20 cricket in this state as we’ve seen with the Perth Scorchers for many years,” Ms Matthews said.

“It’s fantastic to see international T20 cricket back in Perth, especially at the best T20 stadium in the world.

“The match will be played on a Friday evening, so it will be an amazing atmosphere for our Members and fans to watch the best players in the world go head to head.

“With the Aussies gearing up for the T20 World Cup to be hosted in Australia next year, I’m sure there will be no love lost, which is exciting for the fans.”

Tickets for all International matches will go on sale from Monday 20 May.
