Kirste and Morro opened up a raw and vulnerable conversation this morning on Brekky; did your parents tell you “I love you” growing up?
They were humbled by the amount of callers who responded, especially in particular Rex, a 62 year old father who had never been told he was loved by his parents growing up.
Here’s the full audio from Rex’s call:
After the show, Kirste and Morro shared how it impacted them:
“It’s great that Rex was the courageous one and rang up. There are so many people out there who would have been in the same boat as him. His story connected with so many people on air, to us in the studio, it left us wanting to reach out and hug him and say ‘dude, we love you’. It’s for stories like this that make us do breakfast radio.”
“Just thinking about the fact that there are some people who have great memories about their parents saying they love them and that has encouraged them to do that for their kids. Listening to people like Rex, who are still affected by their parent’s not saying “I love you”, carrying that pain everyday, just makes you realise there a so many people out there who want to be loved and accepted. Talking to Rex, you just want to love him, and so do our listeners; we got so many texts about people saying they’re praying for Rex.”
