Kath Healy, from Nature Play WA, joined Dan and our intern Deb, to talk about Outdoor Classroom Day.

Outdoor Classroom Day is a global movement to celebrate and inspire outdoor learning and play! On November 3rd you can join Nature Play and thousands of other schools to take learning outdoors. Research has shown that outdoor learning improves children’s health, engages them with learning and leads to a greater connection with nature. With increasing pressures children today are too often overprotected, overscheduled, and overly attached to screens. Which is why it is so crucial to help get children outdoors.

If your school hasn’t registered yet there is still plenty of time. You can go to www.outdoorclassroomday.com.au to sign up. There are also more than a hundred different lesson plans across all learning areas. “So many fun engaging educational activities that you can do to take kids outdoors.” Nature Play will also be launching their app ‘Talk N Walk’ this month at Telethon. You can join them at RAC Arena on October 23-23 to celebrate and win some great prizes!
