Want to know a mind-blowing fact? Cadbury Flakes don’t melt!
If you don’t believe it the theory was put to the test by Thompson STEM Engagement who used various methods to melt the chocolate without success. While a normal bar of chocolate melted in the microwave the flake was able to withstand the heat. The normal chocolate melted on a hot frying pan but still, the flake remained solid. They also tried a bain marie but the heat from the boiling water still wasn’t enough. So they whipped out a 2000-degree blowtorch and blasted the Flake. But even that wasn’t enough to melt the chocolate.
So it is true that Flakes won’t melt, but why? Although Flakes are made with the usual milk chocolate, the manufacturing process gives it a different arrangement of fat and cocoa. So the melting fat isn’t able to lubricate the cocoa particles to the point where they flow.
