Murray Webb has been growing his hair since high school. But after 15 years, he has decided to cut it all off to raise money for 2 great causes.

Murray Webb cuts off his hair dreadlocks after 15 years

He joined Bec and Jeziel to tell us about his hair and the charities he wants to support. Murray’s hair consist of 182 dreadlocks, 109cm in length and weighing 300rams! He also hasn’t washed it for 5 years! “After 2 weeks your hair hits a point of oily peak and starts to self-clean. So I’ve just professed that, declared that. Held onto as much as I can.”

He described the relationship with his a hair as ‘loving and inseparable’. “They are there when I wake up and they are there when I go to bed.” Murray has been thinking of cutting his hair for a long time. But with his 30th birthday approaching, he decided to start a new chapter. “A little part of me is like if I don’t do it now, I’ll never do it. When is the right time to get rid of something that been sucking the life out of you.

Murray started a GoFundMe to cut off his hair, and plans to donate the funds to Compassion and the Yemen Humanitarian Crisis. Yemen has been the largest Humanitarian Crisis for the over 3 years. They’ve had a Civil War for 6 years, a huge food shortage severe famine and 22 million people in need of urgent assistance. “Every time I’ve thought about doing a fundraises this has been a the top of the list.”

The big chop will happen on the 6th of December, the eve of his 30th birthday. “We’ll have friends family, my hairdresser will be cutting of most.” You can help Murray reach his $20 000 goal by donating here.
