Every day The Breakfast Show serves up a piping hot dish of extra news. The stories you may have missed but will definitely want to hear.

It seems like just about every new budgeting saving hack now comes out of a Facebook group. And what we’ve got for you today is no different!

An Aussie mum, Alicia, has saved herself $173 by buying one thing… a 10kg bulk bag of chicken breast. For just $79 she got herself 10kg of chicken which she used to make “30 chicken sticks (satay and honey soy), 15 Kievs, 22 Schnitzels, 20 crumbed tenders and 5 breasts for whatever,” Alicia wrote on Budgeting, Food, Savings Ideas, Life Help Australia Facebook page.

Alicia worked out that if she had bought all of these items premade it would have cost her over $250!

It did take her 3 hours, but the saving is worth it, plus you don’t have to worry about any nasty additives because you know exactly what you’re making.

So if you find yourself with a few hours up your sleeve, why not do some meal prepping – who knows how much money you’ll save!
