A thrifty, nifty mum from Adelaide has shared her $4.50 mum hack that saves her hundreds of dollars in food.
She buys 1 kilo of bread dough from Bakers Delight for $4.50 and makes her own scrolls! The Adelaide mum’s favourite filling includes pizza sauce, cheese and tomato. But you can make anything from vegemite, cheesy scrolls to cinnamon scrolls.
She says the 1 KG makes about 30 pieces!
- Cut the dough in half.
- Roll out.
- Fill with your chosen filling and leave 1-2cm at the end.
- Roll up and cut 1cm thick.
- Bake for about 8 minutes!
This super mum makes her’s in the Kmart pie cooker for fool-proof baking.
After sharing her recipe in a Facebook group, this mum received hundreds of comments of support and praise for her idea. Many others replied saying they called up their local baker or pizza shop straight after and could find 1KG of dough for between $1.40 – $4.50.
