Each week on Drive, Bec and Jeziel ask local leaders and pastors in our community, to share an inspirational message. Today Rob Furlong of Woodvale Baptist Church talked about the importance of rest.

Do you stand in line at the shop and stress about the line not moving? Do you contemplate hopping queues? Do you get frustrated when the lady at the front pulls out a bag of coins to pay? If you answered yes to all these scenarios, you might have hurry sickness. Most of us have busy lives balancing work, school, family and household chores. It can be hard to find time to rest. But taking breaks from our busy lives can help us feel more relaxed and less overwhelmed.

In the Bible, the Sabbath is the one day a week with no work where we can relax, rest and recharge. That is 52 days out of the year so why waste it? Put in to practice taking that one day out of the week to rest. It will help you maintain a balanced life.

What happens in our society today is we just crash from one thing to another. Just taking a little bit of time out of the day can be a real help towards dealing with hurry sickness…Make it the rhythm of your life.
