Midweek Motivation: Take a break during your busy day

20 October 2022

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Each week, Bec and Jeziel ask local leaders and pastors, to share some inspiration. This week Peter Roberts from Encounter Church encouraged us to take a break during our busy week.

Pastor Peter has been reading ‘The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry’ by John Mark Comer. “He says that all my worst moments are when I am in a hurry. Love, joy and peace are incompatible with hurry.” A lot of us are in a constant state of hurry. With deadlines to meet, kids to drop off, things to plan and a house to manage. “Most of us don’t know how to stop hurrying. It’s just part of life.”

In Matthew 11:28, Jesus said: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” What would it look like to take a break during a busy day? When you are early to pick up the kids from school step outside of your car and enjoy your surroundings. Instead of working through your lunch break, go outside for some fresh air.

“That helps us to be invigorated in life and experience those love, joy and peace sort of moments. I want to encourage you to slow down and take some stops and see how that gets you through the middle of the week.”
