Each week, Bec and Jeziel ask local leaders and pastors, to share an inspirational message.midweek motivation

This week Pastor Julian Kirtisingham, from Kingdom City Canningvale, talked about the power of our words. Proverbs 18:21 says “The tongue has the power of life and death and those who love it will eats its fruit.” Our words can bring life or death. Words can inspire and encourage people but also tear them down.

In 2005, Julian went to a youth group where the Pastor asked him to assist him with a game on stage. But when he looked at the crowd of people, he stated profusely sweating and was so nervous he couldn’t say a word. He felt terrible but the Pastor said “Hey Jules great job today!” The next week the same thing happened but the Pastor continued to encourage Julian. “I was so confused because I knew I didn’t do awesome I was terrible.”

In the third week, Julian was still sweaty and nervous on stage but the Pastor said he did awesome. This time Julian said back “I didn’t do awesome I choked I was terrible.” The Pastor agreed, “but I believe in the call and the gift on your life so I’m going to get you up again.” Eventually, Julian got better at public speaking and standing on stage.

“I’m here today because someone used their tongue to speak life. I believe our listeners are here today because there was someone, or a group of people, that spoke life over them. It’s our turn to do the same.”
