Raine Square continue their devotion to self-expression and commitment to culture and the arts confirming their second year of partnership with Writing WA, supporting Love to Read Local Week. Bec and Jeziel had the pleasure of speaking to Laura Keenan who is the co-producer and runs Night Parrot Press with Linda Martin. They are running a writing workshop this week and it is FREE!!
Love to Read Local Week is a state-wide initiative established in 2020 by Writing WA to showcase and celebrate Western Australia’s many wonderful writers and illustrators, and the works
they create. Through an exciting program of bespoke events, their mission is to connect Western Australian readers with Western Australian books.
In support of Love to Read Local Week, Raine Square sponsored the Flash Fiction writing competition held between May 3 – May 21. Entries were judged by independent Western Australian based publisher, Night Parrot Press. The top three entrants will be awarded prizing donated by Raine Square while the competition’s shortlisted entries will be featured in the Raine Square Short Edition Story Dispenser.
In honour of the campaign’s creativity, Raine Square will house a range of collaborative writing workshops between June 9 – 11. The 45-minute sessions will be hosted by Night Parrot Press publishers, Laura Keenan and Linda Martin, offering a rare and illuminating insight into creative writing.
Workshop attendees will receive a copy of the latest new release publication from Night Parrot Press.
The Love To Read Local Week campaign with Writing WA perfectly exemplifies Raine Square’s purpose to
inspire the community through curiosity, modern thinking and uncommon experiences.
