Yep, that’s right, you read that correctly. The puppy was born in Italy earlier this month and he came out lime green! Considering how surprised you are right now, imagine being the farmer who owned the dogs? He couldn’t believe his eyes. Next to the rest of the litter who are all white, he definitely stood out.

Apparently his colour is caused by biliverdin, the pigment that causes the green-ish colour in bruises, and his colour will probably fade over time.

The owner gave the lime green puppy a perfectly fitting name, Pistachio.

“During these tough times of the coronavirus pandemic, green is the symbol of hope and luck, so maybe it was meant to be that Pistachio could put a smile on people‚Äôs faces,” he said.
