A new online training platform, buoyed by former Olympic Swim Coach, Laurie Lawrence, aims to teach kids vital water safety messages.

Laurie caught up with Mike on Weekdays to explain the new program. “Kids Alive provides free specialist training for education and community specialists who can then teach water safety to kids through their typical place of learning.”

The program (while for all ages) is particularly geared towards the ‘most-at-risk’ category for drowning, under-fives.

There are 3 main training hubs:

  • Early childhood educators
  • Libraries
  • Schools/Community organisations.

With limited resources for water safety, especially in regional areas, Laurie said:

“this platform enables communities to take charge and educate children through songs, books and stage shows.”
