The 61st Annual Grammy Awards were held early this morning (our time, Sunday night in America) and Christian music star Lauren Daigle just about ran to the stage to accept her first ever Grammy.
Lauren Daigle was awarded Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for “You Say”. She shares this honour with songwriters Jason Ingram and Perth boy Paul Mabury. Funnily enough, our Brekky host Kirste was in a band with Paul! Kirste sang and Paul played the drums, this was back in the day just before Paul left for the States to pursue songwriting.
The other nominations included a heavyweight line up including Corey Ashbury (Wreckless Love), Tauren Wells (Known), Mercy Me (Grace Got You) and favourites around Perth, For King & Country (Joy.).
Lauren didn’t have much time to sit down and get comfortable again before being called back to the stage. Her album “Look Up Child” scored her a second Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.
Lauren Daigle is gaining momentum not just in Christian Media but across all the charts with her songs being aired on commercial radio stations and performing on Breakfast TV across the U.S.
