Perth shopping centre, Lakeside Joondalup, has come under fire after a racy lingerie store was displaying porn-themed images in its storefront window over the school holidays.

These images were on full display to children attending activities at the shopping centre’s pop-up ‘winter wonderland’ themed activities. Which was set up right outside the Playboy-owned Honey Birdette store. Ad Standards Australia had upheld more than 60 complaints against Honey Birdette ads, finding them too graphic for an audience that included children.

Collective Shout said, “How many kids had to walk past these pornified and degrading representations of women whilst attending their school holiday activities?” Daniel Principe highlighted the effect this can have on children’s perception of women. “This is not good for young girls to learn about the value of what women are for. It’s not good for young boys to learn of the value of women. When these floor-to-ceiling portrayals are there.”

If you would like to voice your concern Collective Shout has advised you contact Lakeside Joondalup directly. Listen to the full chat below.
