Jeziel’s Sculptures by Sculptures by the Sea has entered phase 2 of production! If you’re asking yourself “what the heck did I just read?”… Well, a few weeks ago Jeziel had the sudden, bursting idea to enter a sculpture into the annual Sculptures by the Sea at Cottesloe beach. Now, there’s a problem with that, because the installation is by invitation only. So Jeziel came up with a solution, he’ll make his sculpture and place it by, the general vicinity of the event, on the beach.
So what is Jeziel’s sculpture idea?
It’s some kind of dome, with a whole bunch of arms sticking out of it.
Next question: Where do we get the arms? Do we make our own? Pay someone to make moulds? Use mannequin arms? After some intense research, Producer Leon stumbled across a treasure. Treasure Chest Salvage Australia, and what do you know, they had piles on piles of mannequin pieces. You can check out the video of when we went to visit them here. So The Drive Team got their mannequin arms.
Now, onto phase 2, what do we make the dome out of?
We got a polystyrene dome made!
Now that we have all the parts, we can begin assembly!
But we need your help family – what colours should we paint the dome and arms?
