Most parents have kids who don’t enjoy school. It can be challenging to see your child’s potential, but for many reasons, they are still underperforming.
Craig Hunter, from Rehoboth Christian College, joined Mike to explain how to help your kids enjoy school by getting them out of their comfort zone. The comfort zone involves easy repetitive tasks such as writing notes, listening to the teacher or completing worksheets. But parents should try to push their kids into the learning zone. Where they are consolidating their abilities and stretching to acquire new knowledge and skills.
If kids always stay below the line and in their comfort zone, then not really facing or learning to overcome challenges. Don’t be afraid to let your kids fail and be challenged. “I think sometimes we try and make life easy for our kids but actually they’re only going to grow when they’re stretched and being challenged.”
