Jodii Maguire from Think Performance Psychology joined Kirste and Dan with a reminder on how we can support our kids sport from the side lines.
Every parent want their kids to have fun playing sport and to give it their best go. “But something happens to us as adults watching our kids on the side lines where we start coaching. We forgot the good job, well done and great effort.” This can be really unhelpful for our kids so it’s important to be encouraging and let them reap the positive benefits of playing sports. “It’s a great platform for us to let our kids grow and thrive in group environments.”
Kids will repeat what you role model for them. If you are critical of their coach or teammates they might mimic that behaviour. “They can stop listening start being disrespectful. Not meaning but because we’ve said it and they’ve heard it.”
