Grant Dusting from McCrindle (Or as they like to call him Stat-Man) joined Kirste and Dan to share how Australia has changed over the past 40 years.

Forty years ago in 1981, millennials were just starting to be born. Fast forward to the present, they are the largest generation in Australia. Our population has also grown from 14.5 million to 25.4 million. Overseas migration has helped our population grow 1.7 times larger than it was forty years ago.

In the ’80s only 3 million Aussies were born overseas but now we have become an extremely multicultural society with over 7 million Aussies being born overseas. The largest communities consist of people from India, Nepal, the Philippines, China and Vietnam.
In 1981 the average Australian earned $10 000 per year and purchased a $43 000 house. But now the average income is $90 000 and the average house costs $550 000.
