Pastor Phil Ayres from Kingdomcity joins Mel and Jeziel in the studio to share wisdom on marriage and relationships. Phil has a passion for growing strong families, and is a goldmine of knowledge and advice. Phil says his passion stems from enduring many difficult years of marriage. After weathering the storm, his marriage is now stronger than ever, and he loves to share his expertise.
This week, Phil touched on the difficult topic of anger, specifically in communication. As in all relationships, communicating under pressure often leads to anger. Anger may seem at the time like a way to relieve pressure, but of course it always does more harm than good. Anger weakens the bond of intimacy, introduces and unsafe feeling, and it narrows objectivity in problem solving.
Phil also share a few great Bible verses to help couple who may be struggling with this:
Ephesians 4:31 NLT
Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words and slander, as well as all types of evil behaviour
Whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down without walls
Ephesians 4:26 NLT
And don’t sin by letting anger control you. Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry
