Kirste was exhausted after a long day when she heard a scurrying sound in the roof of her bedroom.
“I can hear them creating a nest up there! It’s driving us crazy.” So Kirste and Dan wanted to know what was your run in with rats? Jan had the same problem as Kirste so she called an exterminator. He said that rats can get through a space as small as your thumb! “He said he has seen it in slow motion. I was like how do we make our house with no thumb holes in it!”
When Rebecca was a child there were some rats living in the tree outside their house. Her dad made some rat traps which consisted of big buckets filled with water and a spring loaded piece of wood. With a piece of steak suspended above the bucket with fishing line. As the rats crawled onto the wood they would get tipped into the water. “We caught 30 rats over the five traps my dad set up.”
Amalia and her family were camping on the beach that was infested with rats. Her and brother devised a plan to punch at the swag when the rats jumped on top. But her mum’s finger got nibbled. “She tried to stay quiet but she couldn’t help it and she screamed.”
Michelle had a rat in her room that she nick named ‘knicker muncher’ because it always ate their underwear. Eventually she got so annoyed she blocked all the exits and tore the room apart to catch him. “We got him under a towel and smacked it with a shoe, ending it’s month long reign.” Shelly was in Malaysia when she saw a cat on the road. She stepped over it but then she looked back and realised it was a rat! “It was so confident because it was huge enough to be fearless.”
