Our favourite backyard philosopher Andrew Hamilton joined us from the beautiful town of Port Fairy this week. For those not in the loop, he and his wife are currently touring the country, having a little getaway, and sharing some introspection. A big part of their trip is to take some time and listen to God.

Another great opportunity of this journey is touring local churches. the Hammos have been trying to discover, and experience, some real community vibes. This past Sunday, they stopped into Holdfast Baptist Church in Adelaide. Pastor Stephen Toon spoke about Jesus speaking to Peter. After His ressurrection, Jesus tells Peter that life won’t be easy. It’ll only get harder. Peter’s reaction was “What about him?”

This struck quite the chord with Hammo. He explained that that reaction is a favourite of his. However, the response Jesus gave is suitably simple; “It’s none of your business”. Okay, that’s a bit of a paraphrase, but that’s certainly the gist of it.

John 21:20-23 (MSG)

“Turning his head, Peter noticed the disciple Jesus loved following right behind. When Peter noticed him, he asked Jesus, “Master, what’s going to happen to him?”

22-23 Jesus said, “If I want him to live until I come again, what’s that to you? You—follow me.” That is how the rumor got out among the brothers that this disciple wouldn’t die. But that is not what Jesus said. He simply said, “If I want him to live until I come again, what’s that to you?”

The idea is pretty simple. When God speaks, don’t worry about anyone else, just listen. To hear Hammo’s full chat with Kirste and Dan, check out the podcast below:
