Ross Lyon is sacked from the Fremantle Dockers

Breaking News Bombshell: The Fremantle Dockers has sacked Ross Lyon. CEO Steve Rosich is also expected to exit the club. Lyon’s coaching tenure at Fremantle has come to an end after 8 years at the club. Lyon was contracted until 2020 but the sacking comes after the coach failed to make finals since 2015. (Lyon took the club to the 2013 grand final.)

It is understood that current Collingwood assistant coach Justin Longmuir has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Ross Lyon. Assistant coach David Hale will be Fremantle’s interims coach. This means that Fremantle will probably win this week’s game as all interims coaches have won games this year after the senior coach has been sacked.

The Dockers become the fourth club to sack a coach in 2019, following North Melbourne’s Brad Scott, Carlton’s Brendon Bolton, and St Kilda’s Allan Richardson.

Where to now for Freo? Will they better off without Ross Lyon? Will he now be looking for a new job at another club as an assistant coach or even as a football mentor?
