WA’s Port City of Fremantle has joined an amazing line up of places around the globe as part of Time Magazine’s ‘2022 Top 50 places to visit’.
Freo was only one of 2 places in Australia to be included, the other being the Great Barrier Reef. TIME said it was drawn to Fremantle’s foodie scene and huge $270 million renewal project. Which is the “largest of its kind in the area’s history”. City of Fremantle Deputy Mayor Frank Mofflin joined Mike to share his excitement. “We were ecstatic, it’s such a great recognition of the work that has been happening in Fremantle for a number of years now. We were literally over the moon.”
Frank thinks Fremantle’s history and culture it what really sets it apart. “There is the cultural experience of seeing art and live music. Eating some of the best food offered in Western Australia or going down to the beach and spending time with family.” Being recognised by TIME will have a great impact on Fremantle’s tourism and small businesses. “This keeps us in the fore front of people’s minds when they are thinking of destinations to travel to.”
