Every fortnight, Brekky heads out and about on the road to schools across the Perth community.
On a rare occassion, Kirste and Morro found themselves at a high school — the extremely enthusiastic Kennedy Baptist College — broadcasting from a picturesque, grassy knoll.
As soon as Principal Mark Ashby arrived, he quickly handed Kirste and Morro some egg and bacon sandwich — the way Brekky love to start any Free Coffee Friday.
An hour later the man himself jumped on the mic and spoke about the school’s well-being program. Joining him were his team of student leaders — Joe, Anna, Ross and Ashleigh.
Over to the school’s outreach program, Mr Alex King spoke of the Year 7’s who regularly attend the local rec centre to speak with the seniors, while Year 12 student Montelle shared about how she had recently arrived back from a student trip to Cambodia, how the experience impacted her, the way she now sees the world and how blessed we are to live in Perth.
To finish off the festivities was school chaplain Pauline Burgess, who spent the morning cooking pancakes for the students, something she does every Friday! But we pulled her away from the hotplate and got her chatting about what she loves: setting up clubs at the school, especially the prayer group.
We can’t wait to get out and about again in a fortnight to Spearwood Primary.
