After last year’s controversial draw at the inaugural Family mAshes, battle is set to resume to crown a winner. Kirste’s Southern Crosses will lock horns with Morro’s Northern Stars in what is sure to be a battle of the ages.
To jog your memory, the scores were level leading into the last over. Instead of playing the final over though, our ongoing relationship with Channel Nine meant we had to cut the broadcast at 6pm and cross to the Nine News.
It was an uproar when it was announced the game would be a draw. Morro particularly was opposed to the officials’ decisions.
Every morning from 6am to 9am, Kirste and Morro are searching for members to join their 2016 teams, so if you are keen for a bat, bowl, or sledge then send a text to 0429 985 985 with your name, suburb, and why you reckon you should be on Morro or Kirste’s team.
The 98five family will be divided for one day only when the greatest rivalry in all of Perth, North vs. South of the river, take to the pitch to slog some sixes in the biggest family cricket match ever.
There will be a family BBQ on offer with plenty of spuds for spectators thanks to our friends at Mondo and McCains, and you can listen to Drive with Jeziel broadcast live and attempt to commentate a sport he knows nothing about. We’d also like to thank our friends at Inflatable World Oz Joodalup for the cricket gear.
So come on down to Mashfield Reserve (Ashfield Reserve, Bassendean) from 3pm, Friday December 16 and join us as we wrap up the year with the family.
