A book titled Wire Whiskers by local author, Michael Charles, will be launched at the Bassendean Community Hall. It is Michael’s record of a Kenyan farm boy who came to Australia for a working holiday. After working as a jackeroo, he became a newspaper reporter. Later he became a Presbyterian minister – at Bassendean for 11 years – following a chance meeting with pilgrims in the old city of Jerusalem. With his Aussie wife with convict ancestry, Michael produced three sons. You guessed! A memoir.
